Q&A
Where did you grow up?
While I consider myself a “Mainer”, the answer is more complicated. My father is a Marine Corps veteran and my mother grew up on a dairy farm in Maine. Like most military kids, I spent my early years moving around (many towns in Maine, Michigan, DC, and New Hampshire). My mother heavily influenced my father to retire when I was in middle school so we ultimately settled in the most southern town in Maine called Kittery that is home to “the outlets” and has a population of less than 10,000.
What do you do in your spare time?
What is spare time? I have three young girls and an amazing wife so when I am not working I try to spend as much time with them as possible. During the school year, most of my spare time is spent on fields and courts primarily as a spectator but I also have had the pleasure of coaching my girls in soccer and basketball. Unfortunately, my coaching days are soon coming to an end as the girls get older and need “real” instruction. Otherwise, my personal activities include running 20-25 miles a week, sprinkling in some yoga (thank you Peloton app!!) and, weather permitting, playing sub-par golf and snowboarding/skiing with my family.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Hands down Beaver Creek. If I could snowboard 200 days a year I would be in heaven. I am not sure there is a better place to be than Beaver Creek – great family mountain plus an easy commute to the back bowls of Vail. I have visited three times and was fortunate to have spent a week at the Creek with my wife and our girls. They are now also hooked!
