We’re proud to announce that Labor First has been recognized as Best Places to Work.
This is the second year Labor First has been named on this list, which is published by Philadelphia Business Journal. It’s an honor to be recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal alongside many other notable companies. Each year, the Business Journal partners with Quantum Workplace to evaluate hundreds of companies in a rigorous process to identify businesses that are creating the most attractive and compelling workplaces for their employees. This year’s list includes 76 companies from across the region, ranked by employee feedback. Labor First was ranked 2 out of 3 in the large company category.
“Employees want to work for companies whose values and culture align with their own.” Lisa Dukart
Nominated by the public, employees from each company were asked to complete Quantum’s online survey. Responses from each completed survey were then compiled and evaluated. Companies are ranked and winners chosen in each of the categories by their composite score. The survey measures each company’s culture and takes into consideration compensation, benefits and trust in senior leadership.
At Labor First, we strive to create a workplace environment where our teammates feel valued and connected to our business and retirees. We are beyond thankful and appreciative to our amazing team and this recognition.

Your company’s culture in one word: Family
Based in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Labor First describes itself as an industry leader in the design, implementation, and management of group retiree health care, including various Medicare plans. Such plans can be difficult to navigate and the company knows that attracting and maintaining the “best and brightest” requires extra effort on its part. To that end, Labor First offers great employee benefits in addition to a comfortable work environment, which includes jeans and sneakers as part of the everyday dress code.
A strong mentoring and leadership program helps managers perform their best and fun, out-of-office events foster camaraderie and teamwork. A summer hybrid work-from-home model helps employees to balance work and family and free on-site coffee keeps everyone going when they’re in the office.
What helps your company stand out: “We offer great benefits and incentives for great work. Our employees have access to deeply discounted vending machines (nothing over 50 cents), a large community kitchen and a golf putting mat,” said Founder and CEO John Dulczak. “Our managers genuinely care and leadership strives to ensure our positive work culture continues through our explosive growth.”
A simple, but effective way to show employees they’re appreciated is: “Offering 15 paid days off per year for all employees and allowing them to work from home two days a week during the summer. We also host monthly employee appreciation lunches.”
Career development and/or mentorship programs your company offers employees: “Labor First prefers to promote from within, particularly within the account management department, which is the largest department. Member advocates are promoted, with increasing responsibility and rewards. We also pay for state insurance classes and licensing to facilitate further growth. We provide leadership training and mentoring to new managers.”"
