Championing Heart Health

American Heart Month, observed every February in the United States, is dedicated to raising awareness about heart health and heart disease. The American Heart Association and other organizations use this time to educate on preventing heart disease through lifestyle changes as well as life-saving actions such as CPR and using an automated external defibrillator (AED).
In 2024, Great Hill Partners was proud to hold firm-wide CPR and heart health trainings in both our Boston and London offices for employees and their families. Our Boston training was led by a local organization, TimmyStrong Health, whose mission is to improve the health of individuals and reduce the chances of a cardiac event by increasing CPR knowledge. Our London office received training from St John Ambulance, a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to first aid education and response.
Participants were taught how to perform life-saving techniques that can make a critical difference in emergency situations. Learning how to recognize the signs of a heart attack, perform chest compressions, and use an AED are vital skills. These sessions also covered preventative heart-health topics like managing stress, maintaining a balanced diet, and the benefits of regular physical activities. By participating in these trainings, our team is better equipped to foster a safe and health-conscious workplace, in addition to contributing to a heart-healthy community.
Our employees further demonstrated their collective commitment to making a positive impact by supporting a colleague who ran the 2024 Chicago Marathon in support of the American Heart Association. Her fundraiser raised over $10,000 for the American Heart Association, and several donations came directly from Great Hill team members. Employees have the option to submit their donations to our donation-matching program, which we offer as part of our efforts to be good community stewards both inside and outside of our offices. Whether through CPR classes, learning about heart health, or supporting their colleagues, we are proud of our employees’ willingness to engage with and champion the health of their communities.
