Great Hill Partners recently hosted its second annual Growth Summit in Deer Valley, Utah, bringing together over 100 leaders from across its portfolio of industry-leading companies. Recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities of scaling growth-stage businesses in today’s environment, this year’s event focused on the theme “Accelerating Profitable Growth in Uncertain Times.”
Over the course of the event, attendees engaged in discussions across six key functional areas: Finance, Product, Technology, Human Resources, Sales, and Marketing. Through a blend of keynote and breakout sessions, participants received tailored insights specific to their discipline, covering key areas such as long-range planning, digital site optimization, customer profiling, managing growth and profitability tradeoffs, and more. Industry experts, Great Hill’s team members, and portfolio company executives shared strategies and best practices that were both actionable and relevant to the challenges facing businesses today.
Notable sessions included:
• Driving Revenue Through the Base: Acquiring new customers has become tougher, prompting a shift from “growth at all costs” to “sustainable growth.” Sam Jacobs, CEO of Pavilion, shared strategies on how companies can maximize revenue by deepening customer relationships through effective cross-selling and upselling, emphasizing the importance of leveraging existing customer bases.
• GenAI – Journey from POC to Customer Value: Attendees explored how Great Hill portfolio companies successfully transitioned from GenAI proofs of concept to delivering customer-facing product value.
• Long Range Planning Best Practices: Long-range planning is crucial for high-growth companies, providing a strategic roadmap for future success. Peter Garran, Great Hill Managing Director & Head of Capital Markets, led a fireside chat with CFOs to discuss how to make LRPs and rolling forecasts dynamic tools that reflect performance changes and are embraced across the organization.
• Scaling HR: Great Hill Chief People Officer Tracy Keogh and Head of Talent Erin Peterson discussed the opportunities and challenges of expanding HR functions as companies grow, focusing on strategic planning, technology, process optimization, and talent management.
Attendees also enjoyed team-building activities inspired by the Salt Lake City Olympics, allowing them to connect outside of formal sessions. Networking dinners and activities provided attendees with the opportunity to exchange experiences and gain valuable insights from leaders across various industries and disciplines, fostering an open, supportive, and – of course – fun environment for collaboration.
Great Hill’s annual Growth Summit showcases our continued commitment to supporting the long-term success of our portfolio companies, helping them navigate various macro and industry headwinds while also seizing and embracing new opportunities. The conversations that took place over the course of the Summit will serve as a foundation for ongoing efforts to drive meaningful change and innovation within our portfolio.
