Brazilian data center and infrastructure services provider Ascenty has opened its fourth data center in the country and its third in São Paulo state, the firm announced in a release.
The site is in Hortolândia, in the Campinas metropolitan region, and was originally expected to be activated in October.
Ascenty's other data centers are located in "cable hub" Fortaleza, which was activated in June, and in the cities of Campinas and Jundiaí.
With the new facility, Ascenty said it has become the largest data center company in Brazil in terms of power generated and IT space availability.
With over 5,000 square meters of built area, the Hortolândia data center is able to house 900 racks of equipment or 45,000 servers in three independent modules. The site's total available power is 20 MVA, Ascenty said.
The company invested 170mn reais (US$45mn) in the project, which will provide hosting, collocation, hybrid environment and cloud services, among others. Read more
